Killington Give Brits Royal Welcome

Wednesday February 22, 2006
Killington Ski Resort in Vermont again plays host to several hundred British students who spend their school break skiing in America. Mostly in their teens, the kids come to Killington with a wide range of experience – from never been on skis to being very good skiers. A Killington Perfect Turn Ski School Instructor, acting as a team leader, sorts the skiers by skill level and assigns instructors to small groups so every child is guaranteed attention.

Morning and afternoon, the students gather around the flags of the British Isles and head off to improve their skiing and to enjoy the mountain. I recently spent two days with the Perfect Turn Ski School coaching and guiding a group of girls from Chatham School in Kent, England, around the mountain. I was amazed at the adaptability of these kids from a non-skiing country and you could tell from the smiles and frowns on their last day that Killington will be long in their memory.
